California Board of Accountancy Drops Required Advertising Rule
Yes was during tax season, but protecting practice rights is something we need to do, together, whether it is tax season or not. Through the efforts of accountants in California and across the country, the California Board of Accountancy has backed off on their proposal to radically modify safe harbor language and has, in fact, proposed to adopt the language proposed by NSA and our affiliated state organization in California, the California Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals (CSATP).
NSA would like to thank all of the individuals who supported this effort and we want to share with you part of an email received from Linda Dong, Executive Vice President of CSATP:
We did it!!! I just received a letter from the Board of Accountancy and they accepted our language! The letter states in part "It is our hope that these changes, which incorporate language suggested in your letter, will be satisfactory to you. The changes include modifying the first sentence to remove reference to the fact that the preparer is not licensed, and removing the second sentence of the original proposal which caused much opposition." Again, thanks to all!
